Bracero’s grades remained strong, and he was quickly invited to join Illinois State’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi), the largest leadership honor society in the United States. The registered student organization’s philosophy that anyone can achieve their dreams with the proper support and dedicated action was a conviction he held as his own, so he decided to join. As a member of Sigma Alpha Pi Bracero attended chapter events, maintained his academic membership requirements, and even volunteered to facilitate group discussions at the meetings. “I learned so much through the organization, especially though the leadership videos,” said Bracero.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success will host broadcasts by two speakers for the national organization’s 2017-18 Speaker Broadcast Series Feb. 27 and March 13. Kathryn Minshew, CEO and co-founder of The Muse, a career platform that helps over 50 million people as they seek career satisfaction, also wrote the book “The New Rules of Work,” which is considered a modern playbook to guide people through the new world of work. Minshew will speak to students about finding career satisfaction from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Memorial Student Center’s BE-5.

THADDEUS BULLARD SPEAKS TO GU STUDENTS Thaddeus Bullard is participating in a broadcast event sponsored by the Gallaudet chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success. The event will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in JSAC 1010 and is free to all students, staff and faculty. The event will be streamed live and hosted by Montclair State University in New Jersey. All viewers are invited to submit questions via Twitter and Facebook, which will be answered, live during the broadcast. Thaddeus Bullard is a global entertainer with the WWE. Out of the ring, his passion as a philanthropist, father, and mentor has helped thousands of kids, raised millions of dollars for scholarships and programs, and helped with fundraising and awareness for organizations such as the United Way, Susan G. Komen, Special Olympics and many others.

The San Antonio College chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success welcomed 60 new members during its biannual orientation Jan. 24 in Loftin Student Center. Chapter Advisor Mark Bigelow, interim director and coordinator of student success, spoke about what The National Society of Leadership and Success entails and what new members should expect this semester. “This organization helps students create goals for themselves and helps determine how to achieve those goals,” Bigelow said. “There’s all kinds of organizations related to leadership, but ours goes in depth and gives students the tools to achieve their highest potentials.”

Berkeley College celebrated the induction of its fourth cohort of students into the New York and New Jersey chapters of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) during a ceremony held at the Venetian in Garfield, NJ, on January 17, 2018. Students are selected for membership to the NSLS, the nation's largest leadership honor society, by their colleges based on either academic standing or leadership potential. During the ceremony, 73 students were inducted into the Berkeley College New York and New Jersey chapters.

University of Houston-Victoria students are prepared to embrace The National Society of Leadership and Success mission after a recent induction ceremony. More than two dozen students were present during the Dec. 8 induction ceremony, including UHV alumna and chapter advisor Camilla Sutton. “The National Society of Leadership and Success has a long history of leadership development, and it’s always exciting to introduce new members to the organization,” Sutton said. “I think the new members will benefit immensely from the opportunities available, and the society will benefit from their involvement.”

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) gained more than 100 new members recently after the Alfred State College chapter held its inaugural induction ceremony in December in the Orvis Activities Center Auditorium. During the ceremony, the auditorium roared with the clapping and cheering of supportive friends and family as the inductees crossed the stage to receive their certificates. In addition to the students, two advisers were inducted, as well.

Members of Sigma Alpha Pi, The National Society of Leadership and Success at Mott Community College, inducted 50 new members for the fall 2017 semester. Three National Engaged Leaders and three Excellence in Teaching awards were also bestowed at the Dec. 9 meeting. The group also recognized three Mott Community College faculty members and one staff member with awards. Sigma Alpha Pi member Jacob Duffiney received recognition for his work on a book drive.

The Kishwaukee College chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success held an Induction Ceremony Dec. 1 on campus honoring 28 new members. The NSLS chapter at Kishwaukee College was established in fall 2014. Members who qualified for National Engaged Leader Awards were recognized during the ceremony. NELA members have attended additional speaker broadcasts, network team meetings and community service hours above and beyond the standard membership requirements. Receiving NELA recognitions were Marcus Robinson of Dolton; Katherine Koca of DeKalb; Christine Newman Askins of Rochelle; and Tiffany Newman Askins of Rochelle. The chapter also recognized faculty and staff members at Kishwaukee College for their support of the student experience on campus. Receiving a Plaque of Recognition were Excellence in Teaching – Todd West, assistant professor of English; Excellence in Service to Students – Scott Kawall, director of Student Involvement; and Pernevlon Ellis, assistant professor of sociology.
